# Find a customer, and see how Beacon put them together

> What the Customers page lists, what each column and tile means, how Beacon joins a customer's records across your tools, and what is not switched on yet.

The Customers page lists every customer once. For each one it shows which record in each of your tools became that customer, how Beacon joined them, and when it last checked. Find it under **The Brain → Customers**.

Beacon reads your tools here and never writes to them. Two records become one customer only on an exact match, or when you say so.

<Note>
  **During the pilot, every customer on this page comes from your billing system.** Joining each one to its company in your CRM starts once Beacon is reading your CRM. Until then the CRM column waits, and each customer reads **Billing only for now**. That is expected, not a fault.
</Note>

## The tiles at the top

| Tile | What it counts |
| - | - |
| **Customers** | Every customer Beacon holds from your billing system. |
| **Joined to your CRM** | Customers joined to a CRM company on an exact match. Reads **Needs your CRM** until Beacon is reading it. |
| **Beacon is unsure** | Customers where Beacon found a possible match it will not join on its own. Reads **Needs your CRM** until Beacon is reading it. |

A status line appears above the tiles **only when something is wrong** — for example, if customer data has stopped updating. The figures then show what was last stored, with that date, and are never shown as zero.

## The list

Each row is one customer.

| Column | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Customer** | The customer's name, with its email domain beneath. |
| **In billing** | The name on the billing record, with its customer ID in your billing system beneath. |
| **In your CRM** | The matching company in your CRM, with its ID. Reads **Waiting on your CRM** until Beacon is reading it. |
| **How they were joined** | In words — see below. |
| **Last checked** | When Beacon last checked this customer's records. |

The list shows 25 customers a page. Search by name, email domain or ID to find one.

## How they were joined

Beacon says in words how each customer was put together. It does not show a match score.

| What it says | What it means | Live today? |
| - | - | - |
| **Billing only for now** | One source so far. The customer is its billing record. | Yes |
| **Not joined yet** | Beacon has not joined this customer to another tool yet. | Yes |
| **Same email domain** | Joined to a CRM company with exactly the same email domain. | When Beacon reads your CRM |
| **Same stored ID** | Joined because both records carry the same stored ID. | When Beacon reads your CRM |
| **Possible match — waiting for you** | Beacon found a likely match but will not join it on its own. The reason is shown beneath. | When Beacon reads your CRM |
| **Joined by you** | You confirmed the match. | Not switched on yet |
| **Billing only — no CRM company found** | Beacon looked and found no CRM company with the same domain or ID. | When Beacon reads your CRM |

**Beacon never joins two records on a guess.** A possible match stays apart until you confirm it, and anything you keep apart stays apart. Confirming a possible match is not switched on yet; when it is, Beacon will ask you on the Brain overview.

## Open a customer

Select a row to open its side panel. It shows:

* **How they were joined**, in words.
* **Records that make up this customer** — the billing record, the CRM company once one is joined, and the email domain.
* **Last checked.**

## Not on this page yet

* A page for each customer, with everything Beacon knows about them in one place.
* Which segment each customer belongs to.

Both arrive in later releases. Nothing on this page estimates them in the meantime.
